So winter is well and truly here and I'm sure that many golfers are preparing to put their clubs away in storage till spring time! Whilst I realize that the weather conditions can take some of the enjoyment out of playing 18 holes, I must stress that winter time is the best time of the year to work hard on improving aspects of your golf game. When spring is upon us how many golfers look forward to the season ahead having thoughts like "I'm going to reduce my handicap from 18 to 14" or "this year I'm going to practice more and get down from 12 to 9" these aspirations for the season ahead are fine but these objectives are set every year and how many of you end the season slightly disappointed? How can you start shooting lower scores if you don't understand where your bad shots / inconsistencies are coming from? Winter time is when you should seek advice from your coach by having a series of lessons and forging a 50/50 coach/player partnership, seeing yourself on video in slow motion can help you understand your own golf swing and what you do well and where improvements can be made. Objectives should be set; they need to be achievable and measured over a 1-3 month period in preparation for the start of the season in April.
